Entrepreneurship, building and new beginnings are only a few words that come to mind when thinking of the newcomer journey. And while no two newcomers’ stories are the same, resilience and hope have always been part of the story. A story that MAGMA is honoured to be part of.
Inspired by a welcoming community and guided by the principles of diversity and inclusion, MAGMA continues to be committed to supporting newcomers and setting them up for long-term and sustainable success.
Thank You to all those who took the time to attend the MAGMA Re-Envisioned: One Year Later event and to all our community partners in building stronger communities. Together, we continue to tell the story of a welcoming community that we are proud to call home.
Annual Humanitarian Award
MAGMA would like to congratulate the first re- cipients of the Annual Humanitarian Award which was celebrated at the MAGMA Re-Envisioned: One Year Later event; Marie-Claire Muirhead and Regine Lura.
Initiated by four past MAGMA board members; George Wybouw, Nicole Druckman, Mike Timani, and Jack Haller, the award celebrates two community volunteers every year and aims to highlight the importance of volunteer work in building more diverse, inclusive and equitable communities.
Passionate about multiculturalism and inclusion, they decided to create the award to honor and commemorate the great memory of Dr. Naren Srivastava and James (Skip) Talbot; two former Presidents of MAGMA Board of Directors and true believers in the power of diversity and humanitarian work which reflected in their decades-long volunteering and dedication towards a vibrant community.
