Welcoming New Beginnings: MAGMA Supports 28 Newcomers Through Federal Housing Program

MAGMA is proud to have welcomed 28 new asylum claimants—including 7 families and 2 individuals—to Moncton on Monday, July 14th, through the Interim Housing Assistance Program, a Provincial and Federal Government initiative.

Since their arrival, our team has been actively supporting their settlement journey with a series of tailored services and community-building activities:

  • July 14 – ✨ Arrival Day! A warm Moncton welcome to our newest community members.
  • July 15–18 – One-on-one needs assessments and information orientations to help clients navigate their new environment.
  • July 23 – 💼 Pre-employment Workshop (Session 1): Building pathways to employment.
  • July 24 – 🏠 Housing Orientation & Workshop: Understanding the local housing landscape.
  • July 29 – 🌍 Community Orientation Event in the Atrium: Connecting with local services and friendly faces.
  • July 30 – 💼 Pre-employment Workshop (Session 2)
  • August 15 – 📝 Resume Workshop (Session 3): Crafting strong resumes for future opportunities.
  • August 20 – 🎓 SWIS School & Youth Presentations: Preparing families for the school year.
  • August 27 – 🏫 School Registrations with SWIS support.

With the continued support of this federal initiative, MAGMA looks forward to welcoming even more asylum claimants in the coming weeks—helping them build safe, stable, and hopeful new lives in our community.
