Emergency Preparedness Information Session for Newcomer Families

On February 11th, MAGMA hosted a collaborative emergency‑preparedness event that brought together representatives from NBEMO, the City of Moncton, Services 911, ANB Ambulance NB, the RCMP, and the Moncton Fire Department. Their collective expertise helped newcomer families gain essential knowledge about safety, emergency response, and how to access critical services in the region.

Throughout the session, participants learned about the wide range of emergency supports available in New Brunswick—what each service does, when to call for help, and how to respond confidently in urgent situations. In addition to formal presentations, attendees explored interactive information booths, allowing them to connect directly with safety professionals, ask questions, handle materials, and gather practical resources to bring home.

The event welcomed clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. To ensure accessibility for all, interpretation support was provided, helping every participant fully understand the information shared and engage comfortably with service providers.

This collaborative initiative played an important role in empowering newcomers to feel informed, supported, and prepared as they navigate emergency situations in their new community. MAGMA extends sincere thanks to all participating agencies and presenters for their dedication to building a safer, stronger, and more welcoming Greater Moncton.
