On September 29, 2025, the United Church Auditorium in Moncton, NB, welcomed 166 registered attendees for Together in Truth – A Day of Learning & Unity, a heartfelt event held in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Organized by MAGMA with support from the City of Moncton, and in partnership with the Together Project, the event brought together community members for a day of reflection, education, and connection.
The program featured a rich blend of storytelling, cultural teachings, and a community screening of a powerful documentary provided courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The film pays tribute to Senator Murray Sinclair’s lifelong dedication to truth, justice, and reconciliation. The film offered a moving portrayal of Indigenous experiences and was a catalyst for meaningful conversations among attendees.
A highlight of the day was the keynote presentation by Allan Saulis,
a Wabanaki Elder, Knowledge Keeper, and Artist from the Wolastoqey Nation. He generously shared teachings and stories from the Wabanaki tradition, focusing on the history along the Wolastoq (St. John River) and the meaning of reconciliation through Indigenous worldviews. His words resonated deeply, offering insight into Indigenous worldviews and the importance of truth-telling in the journey toward reconciliation.
The event continued with opportunities for dialogue, reflection, and learning. Attendees expressed appreciation for the safe and welcoming space created to honour Survivors. The event captured the spirit of unity and the commitment of the Moncton community to walk together in truth.
As we move forward, Together in Truth stands as a reminder of the power of community, storytelling, and shared responsibility in building a more just and inclusive future.
