What a Summer!

Your Community Connections Team at MAGMA has been BUSY, partnering with the community, making new friends, and trying new things.

This summer, we hosted 49 events! Were you there?! We learned how to ride and care for our bicycles with La Bikery, built our own kites with Linges au Ciel, explored Resurgo, discovered the tidal bore… and so much more! But the best part? Working with community partners to connect with and support so many new faces in Moncton.

A special shout-out goes to the Riverview Junior Leaders, who joined us every Wednesday to help plan and facilitate

events. This remarkable group of young people steps up to learn, lead, and give back. The program empowers youth to take on real leadership roles, build confidence, and volunteer their time to make a difference.

Inspiring newcomer youth can be intimidating—it takes empathy, patience, and courage, especially when you’re still a young leader yourself and meeting people from cultures you may not yet know. These Junior Leaders have proven that leadership isn’t about age, but about heart. By welcoming, supporting, and connecting with newcomer youth, they not only help others feel at home, but also inspire all of us with their kindness and commitment.
Well done, Riverview Junior Leaders!  See you next Summer 😎

What brings people together better than food?😋
Our Community Connections team has cooked up something truly special: the Convo & Cooking Club: a monthly cooking class led by newcomer women, for newcomer women. With the kind support of the YWCA and Beechwood Community Centre, each month a head chef has the opportunity to share a recipe that means something to her – perhaps a treasured family dish, a flavour that reminds her of home, or a meal that carries a special story.
Cooking together is more than just preparing food, it’s an act of connection. Even when we come from different countries, speak different languages, or have different traditions, food gives us a common ground.  It’s about more than feeding ourselves; it’s about caring for one another, preserving culture, and creating something beautiful together.
Another thing that brings ingredients, and people, together? Eggs! With the popularity of the program growing, we’ve also been fortunate to receive the generous support of the Egg Farmers of New Brunswick. Representing 15 dedicated egg-farming families across the province, they work to ensure a steady supply of fresh, high-quality eggs while supporting sustainable farming for future generations. These multi-generational farmers are deeply rooted in New Brunswick, committed to local communities and the well-being of their neighbours.
Along with aprons and cooking utensils, NB Eggs helps stock our community kitchen with plenty of farm-fresh eggs, knowing that a good egg is the foundation for a meal that’s both delicious and nourishing!

Stay Connected with MAGMA’s Community Connections Events!

Looking to make meaningful connections in your community? Keep an eye out for MAGMA’s Community Connections Events—we’re always planning something exciting!
Over the past few months, we’ve had so much fun collaborating with community partners to create events that are engaging, inclusive, and accessible for all participants. We’ve loved getting to know new (and familiar!) faces and building strong, supportive connections.

Have a skill, passion, or extra time you’d like to share? Join our amazing volunteer team! Volunteering can feel overwhelming at first, so we offer Volunteer Information Sessions on the last Wednesday of every month, from 4:30–5:30 PM, to help you learn more about MAGMA and how you can contribute in a way that works for you.

Wondering what’s coming up this summer? We’ve got lots in store—and the best way to stay in the loop is by following us on Facebook and Instagram. That way, you’ll never miss an event, opportunity, or celebration.
See you out there!
